In the valleys of South Wales as in many other places, coal mining is an industry banished to the mists of time. But the bravery and determination of many generations of colliers should be remembered and honoured. So many gave their lives either by accidents and disasters or lost to chronic disease. The first short story and vivid images serve to remind us of times gone but not forgotten. The second, Gleision Colliery, is a true account of
the last mining disaster to happen in the Swansea Valley in 2011.
In a world facing crisis due to food
shortages, global warming, and general disrespect by humans for
planetary resources, this little book introduces five dragons who care
about our future. Through their teachings about earth, wind, ice, frost,
and moon, children can learn how to respect Mother Earth, how to live in
harmony with all creatures, all life as we know it to be.
A light-hearted collection of four heart-warming short stories about
woodland creatures who bring joy and happiness to those around them.
Melvyn The Mushroom who wanted to see what lay beyond his village,
Sylvester The Squirrel who just couldn’t stay out of trouble, Bert The
Badger went in search of enchantment, and finally, Fern The Fox who just
loved to help others.
The Devotee's is a fictional narrative of four incredible characters,
three humans and one dragon, serving the planet in order to maintain
life for all species, fauna, land, seas, and collectively, our home, the
Earth. They are devoted individually to serving the Earth, Wind, Fire,
and Water and create in our minds a reality of how so much is needed to
maintain life as we know it to be. Through their efforts and devotion we
are given dreams that ‘all is not lost’, harmony with all that will save
Mother Earth. Written by Lazarus Carpenter and beautifully illustrated
by Gill Brooks, this is a book for children and adults alike.

A little over twenty years ago, when I was creating computer desktop
themes and wallpapers, I did a small series called “Dragonlands”.
Looking back, those images were quite awful, but at the time, I was new
to digital art so I think I could be forgiven. Each dragon was given a
name and a little description. There was also the Dynnas, the Dragon
Master and a map of the Dragonlands. Fast forward to now, where my
digital skills have improved one thousand fold and I have a few books
published, I remembered my little series and thought it would be
wonderful to not only create new illustrations of them and give their
realm a name, but to give them a whole book to themselves. I have added
one dragon extra to the original six, because on re-illustrating the
map, I thought that Trer’s Isle needed an explanation. I have really
enjoyed re-visiting this clutch of dragons, and I hope you, the reader,
enjoys what I created for them – it’s what they deserve after waiting
all this time.

Sitting under the trees as the leaves fall from the trees, it’s important to have something to keep us occupied and entertained throughout the day. For children, this can be especially important, as they may become restless and bored. That’s why we’ve put together this collection of short stories, all with a focus on teaching important moral lessons. In today’s world, there are many distractions that can lead us astray from what really matters.
It’s important to teach strong values in children from a young age, and one way to do this is through storytelling. Each of the stories in this collection has been carefully selected for its ability to teach children important lessons about kindness, honesty, perseverance, and other essential virtues. But these stories aren’t just meant to be educational – they’re also a lot of fun! From tales of adventurous animals and mythical creatures to stories of characters overcoming obstacles, there’s something here for everyone. And because they’re short, they’re perfect for reading aloud around a campfire. Of course, we understand that not every child is the same, and not every family has the same values. That’s why we’ve included stories from a variety of characters and perspectives so that every child can find something to enjoy and learn from.

After meeting Dog-Wolf, deep inside his dreams, Hermit found himself
in a large room with white walls; full of huge purple drapes decorated
the windows. Outside, he could see a lush garden of flowers and plants
and hear the sounds of many different animals and birds. In front of him
stood a tall man wearing a long dark blue robe, and a cowl covered his
head but Hermit could see a face. It was a long narrow face, with a
pointed chin; and cheekbones high sat below light blue eyes that pierced
the very soul of our Hermit. Hermit had seen this Spirit before, but not
for a long time. It was Rardin, his teacher and guide from the other
world.
All of us say we do not want to suffer
and yet each and every day, we cause more suffering to ourselves and
support those who perpetuate suffering in others! And we say we do not
want to suffer? What do we mean by 'suffering'. A 'word' defined and
experienced by so many and yet understood, controlled and created by so
few. Crucial to the centre of an understanding is firstly, to know that
'suffering' is always cured by unconditional love.

strolling through the village, Doctor John stumbled upon an ancient book
hidden in the depths of a dusty old bookstore.
